There are several apps available to assess students quickly and efficiently.
Fourth grade is currently using Mastery Connect to track student achievement on individual standards. Teachers can upload assessments, align them to standards and quiz students using the Bubble Sheet app. Scores are automatically uploaded into Mastery Connect, allowing teachers to see which student mastered, near mastered or did not master the standard. This allows the teacher to plan for reteaching in small groups. The quick access to data gives the teacher a chance to save time on grading and reteach quickly.
Nearpod is another way students can be assessed. The teacher can control the presentation while students follow along on their individual iPad. The teacher can embed an assessment to quickly assess student learning. This can range from multiple choice questions and answers to drawing a picture of a topic or process and submit the response on the app.
Gaggle is yet another way students can submit the work they complete digitally by e-mailing their teacher in a student friendly (and safe) format. Students have individual e-mail accounts which they can use to e-mail each other and their teachers. The teacher can also create a drop box for students to submit work. Students can easily screenshot their work and send it.
Discovery Education is a great tool to teach and assess students on science and social studies objectives. Teachers can create assignments using any of the videos, articles, virtual labs or animations. Students can view a clip, answer a writing prompt, and submit the assignment to their teacher. There are resources at every level of learning that can be used to create differentiated assessments for students in the classroom.
